BRIEFLY DESCRIBE THE APPLICATION OF REFRACTORY MATERIALS TO INDUSTRIAL WASTE

magnesia-brick

The application of blast furnace slag and steel slag is currently developing rapidly in the iron and steel industry, and the discharge of waste slag is increasing day by day. Blast furnace slag is the slag discharged from ironmaking, and steel slag is the slag discharged from the steelmaking process. The discharge of these waste residues causes great environmental pollution and waste of resources. The main components of blast furnace slag are oxides such as CaO, MgO, Al2O3, SiO2, and individual slags also contain TiO2, V2O5, etc. The chemical composition varies according to the type of steel smelting. If it is a specific blast furnace slag, the chemical composition should be stable. In addition, various types of blast furnace slag have a common feature, that is, they do not contain free oxides, especially free calcium oxide.

The utilization of waste in refractory materials has made great progress in recent years. However, due to the deficiencies in my country’s industrial waste and people’s lack of re-resource concepts, the application of industrial waste in refractory materials is quite significant. narrow. For this reason, while strengthening people’s awareness and concepts, industrial waste is used in multiple ways, in multiple ways, and at multiple levels to realize resource reuse.
From the perspective of the types and performance of refractory materials, the utilization methods of industrial waste are as follows: (1) Waste refractory materials can be directly used or directly used at lower grades; (2) Industrial waste materials are purified or pre-homogenized to prepare high-demand refractory materials. Materials; (3) Industrial wastes are processed directly as refractory raw materials; (4) Metal oxides are extracted from wastes as refractory raw materials; (5) Used as additives (such as binders, anti-hydration agents, etc.) in refractory materials .
Although there is still a certain gap between the status quo of waste utilization in the field of refractories in my country and developed countries, it has accumulated good experience driven by technological progress in related industries. At the same time, a problem that needs to be solved is to transform these achievements into the industrial production of refractory materials to achieve the purpose of commercialization. In this regard, my country’s technology is not yet mature. Although some experiments have been successful in laboratories, there are few reports on commercialization. This is also a problem considered by current researchers. It is foreseeable that once this difficulty is overcome, the application of industrial waste in refractories will undoubtedly be one of the important means of industrial waste recycling.
Conclusion At present, the application of industrial waste in refractories in our country is still in the preliminary stage of research and development, and the technology and process are not yet mature, and further exploration and improvement are needed. If the waste can be effectively processed and treated with simple, economical and reasonable technological means to improve the performance of refractory materials, this has important practical significance for the utilization of waste. In addition, the huge development of waste treatment and utilization technology will also contribute to the research and development of the use of waste in refractory materials. While solving environmental and energy issues, it also promotes the development of refractory materials. In the near future, the market application prospects of scrap in refractory materials will be very broad.
