Does Low Cement Castable Need To Add Steel Fiber When Used in The Sedimentation Chamber?

If low cement castable is used in the sedimentation chamber, generally, steel fiber does not need to be added.

low cement castables

If the lower opening of the cone section of the sedimentation chamber is too small and needs to be patted during use, only steel fiber needs to be added to the low cement refractory castable used in the cone section to increase the pulling, wear resistance and erosion resistance. However, if the discharge opening of the sedimentation chamber is reasonable, and the size of the sedimentation chamber and the rotary kiln are also reasonable, steel fiber does not need to be added to the castable.
The temperature of the sedimentation chamber is not high, and it mainly plays a dust removal role. The flue gas has fallen to the bottom before it flows out of the sedimentation chamber. It is collected by the ash hopper at the bottom of the sedimentation chamber, and the unsettled dust is taken out with the flue gas. General low cement castables can meet the use.
In general, high-aluminum castables and low-cement castables are more common, but clay bricks are also used as the lining of the sedimentation chamber, and high-aluminum castables are also used to add a certain proportion of high-voltage electric porcelain to make the castable glaze to facilitate the landing of smoke and dust.
There are few cases where steel fiber is added to low cement castables and used in sedimentation chambers. In recent years, the sedimentation chambers of some lime rotary kilns and zinc volatilization kilns are mostly lined with clay bricks. However, the size design of some sedimentation chambers is not reasonable. When the sedimentation chamber is too small and the discharge port of the cone section is also small, the smoke and dust will be beaten to settle during the production process. This will accelerate the service life of the clay bricks or low-cement castables lined in the cone section. Therefore, in special cases, a reasonable proportion of steel fiber is added to the low-cement castable to increase the wear resistance of the cone section and increase its service life.
