What Is The Composition Of AZS Fused Zirconium Corundum Brick?

Fused zirconium corundum bricks are an indispensable and important component in high temperature industry. This material has been widely used in metallurgy, ceramics, glass and other industries due to its excellent high temperature resistance, excellent corrosion resistance and high mechanical strength. The composition of AZS brick typically consists of three main components,:
Alumina (Al2O3): Alumina is a primary component of AZS brick, usually comprising around 45% to 49% of its composition. Alumina provides high refractoriness and mechanical strength to the brick.

Zirconia (ZrO2): Zirconia is another crucial component, making up approximately 33% to 40% of the composition. Zirconia contributes to the brick's resistance to thermal shock and corrosion, especially in contact with molten glass.

Silica (SiO2): Silica accounts for the remaining portion of the composition, typically around 15% to 20%. Silica helps improve the brick's resistance to chemical attack and thermal stress.

In addition to these primary components, AZS Fused zirconium corundum bricks may also contain small amounts of other additives or stabilizers to enhance specific properties or to facilitate the manufacturing process. These additives could include materials like titania (TiO2) or other oxides.

The name "AZS" is derived from the initial letters of its primary components: Alumina (A), Zirconia (Z), and Silica (S). This composition makes AZS bricks highly suitable for lining the sidewalls, bottom blocks, and other high-wear areas of glass melting furnaces, as well as in other applications where resistance to extreme temperatures and chemical corrosion is necessary.

Fused zirconium corundum bricks are made in an electric furnace where high-quality raw materials such as alumina, zirconia, etc. are melted at high temperatures, and then the melt is homogenized and densified by controlling the temperature and pressure. Finally, after cooling and solidification, the fused zirconium corundum brick is obtained. It has extremely high refractoriness and can remain stable for a long time in high temperature environments. In addition, it has strong corrosion resistance and can resist the erosion of highly corrosive media such as molten metal and molten glass. In the glass industry, fused zirconium corundum bricks are also used as key refractory materials for glass furnaces.
