Silica Insulation Brick

Silica insulation bricks are produced from raw materials such as light powder, silica sand, and cement through certain proportions and processes. It is widely used in construction, thermal insulation, heat insulation, fire protection and other fields due to its low density, high strength, good thermal insulation performance and earthquake resistance.

Lightweight silica insulation bricks are made of finely crushed silica as raw material. The critical particle size usually does not exceed 1mm, and the particles smaller than 0.5mm are not less than 90%. It is made by adding flammable substances to the ingredients or using gas generation method to form a porous structure, which is then fired. It can also be made into unfired products. used at high temperatures,

1. Lightweight silica bricks are used in the glass industry 

During the glass melting process, very high temperatures are reached in the lower part of the dome's bulges. Depending on the type of glass, the temperature is around 1600°C. Lightweight layers are usually designed with two or more layers.

Lightweight silica bricks are mainly exposed to these temperature loads. It is expected that the single layer of the vault will have the same or similar expansion properties. Silica bricks with a bulk density of 1250kg·m-3 or 1000kg·m-3 can meet the requirements of the dense layer. The next layer uses silica bricks with a bulk density of 800Kg·m-3 or 600kg·m-3.

Lightweight silica bricks can be freely stacked on the furnace arch, or bonded with silica fire clay. There is no chemical load during the furnace life. Mainly lightweight silica bricks are used because the chemical and mineral composition is similar to the dense silica bricks used for the working lining.

Hot blast stoves are often used for hot air, which is connected to the exhaust fan of the blast furnace. Depending on the shape and location of the hot blast stove, the temperature range is between 1000 and 1300°C, and the hot air range is between 2300 and 6500m3·min-1.
