Description
Calcined bauxite is generally formed by chemical weathering or exogenous effects. There are few pure minerals, and always contain some impurity minerals, more or less clay minerals, iron minerals, titanium minerals and detrital heavy minerals. Mainly used for smelting aluminum and making refractory materials. The color increases with the iron oxide content, such as gray-white, brown-red, etc. Density 3.45g/cm3, hardness 1~3, opaque and brittle. Extremely difficult to melt. Insoluble in water, soluble in sulfuric acid and sodium hydroxide solution.
Bauxite mineralis formed by laterite formation of parent rock in a humid and hot climate. The deposits formed by igneous rocks and metamorphic rocks are mainly gibbsite; the laterite deposits formed by limestone and dolomite usually contain most boehmite.
Application
1. Aluminum smelting industry. Used in national defense, aviation, automobiles, electrical appliances, chemicals, daily necessities, etc.
2. Precision casting. The Calcined bauxite clinker is processed into fine powder to make a mold and then precision cast. Used in military, aerospace, communications, instrumentation, machinery and medical equipment sectors.
3. Used for refractory products.
4. Aluminum silicate refractory fiber. It has the advantages of light weight, high temperature resistance, good thermal stability, low thermal conductivity, small heat capacity and mechanical vibration resistance.Puts high-aluminum clinker into a high-temperature electric arc furnace with a melting temperature of about 2000-2200℃. After high-temperature melting, high-pressure high-speed air or steam injection, and cooling, it becomes white "cotton"-aluminum silicate Refractory fiber. It can be pressed into fiber blankets, boards or woven into cloth to replace refractory bricks lined with high temperature furnaces in smelting, chemical, glass and other industries. Firefighters can use fire-resistant fiber cloth to make clothes.
