Ladle Shroud

An essential component of the connection between the ladle and the tundish is the ladle shroud. The lower part of the upper connecting ladle is connected with the water outlet of the sliding nozzle device, and the lower end extends into the tundish. It prevents the molten steel entering the tundish from the ladle from being re-oxidized and splashed; protects the molten steel from secondary oxidation during casting, improves the quality of the molten steel; reduces the deposition of oxide products in the steel on the inner wall of the nozzle, and extends the service life.

Ladle shroud is an important refractory material for maintaining casting and improving the quality of steel. The length of it is generally 600-1800mm, and the pipe diameter is 90-150 mm. Its use conditions are harsh and must have the following functions: excellent thermal shock resistance; good mechanical strength; excellent resistance to alternating corrosion of molten steel and molten slag, and high oxidation resistance.
