How To Eliminate The Gaps Between Ceramic Fiber Modules?

Ceramic fiber furnace linings are gradually replacing traditional heavy refractory bricks to become a new mainstream furnace lining due to their advantages of light weight, heat insulation and thermal shock resistance. The brick joints of refractory brick furnace linings are filled with refractory mud. Ceramic fiber modules are often installed in a soldier-like arrangement. There are two types of module gaps, gaps in the length direction and gaps in the width direction. How to eliminate the gaps in refractory fiber modules?

ceramic fiber modules

1: Mutual extrusion in the width direction
First, the module width direction has compression resilience. After the module is installed, the module wrapping tape is removed to expand and squeeze each other, and the gap in the width direction of the module is automatically eliminated.
2: Compensation blanket eliminates row gaps
Secondly, in the ceramic fiber modules length direction, that is, between rows, compensation blankets need to be added to achieve compensation in the non-expansion direction of the ceramic fiber module and eliminate the gap between the two rows of modules. That is, fold the ceramic fiber blanket of the same material into a U-shape and press it tightly to fill the row gap.
3: Accurate positioning according to the drawing
In addition, accurate positioning is also a prerequisite for improving the integrity of the ceramic fiber furnace lining. Before installing the ceramic fiber module, the workers will mark the location according to the drawings, weld the module fixing bolts, and reasonably plan the distance between each module.
4: Fill with ceramic fiber blanket

Cut the ceramic fiber blanket into appropriate sizes to fill the gaps between modules. This method is simple and effective, and can fill the gaps well and improve the insulation effect.
5: Fill with ceramic fiber paper or board

If the gap is small, you can use ceramic fiber paper or thin board to fill it. Cut it into a suitable shape and fill it into the gap.
6: Ceramic fiber slurry

Use ceramic fiber slurry to fill the gap. Apply ceramic fiber slurry to the gap and let it dry and solidify. This method is suitable for smaller and irregular gaps.
7: Stacking installation method

When installing ceramic fiber modules, use the stacking installation method. Stagger the modules to reduce the generation of gaps. Each layer of modules is slightly staggered to form a multi-layer stacking structure, which can effectively reduce the gap.
