High Alumina Sleeve Brick

High alumina sleeve bricks are a material used to repair and protect the taphole of converters. They are usually made of aluminum carbon or other high-temperature resistant materials. The sleeve brick is a hollow refractory brick tube placed outside the core rod of the plug rod. Each brick tube has a female and male interface at both ends. The sleeve brick protects the metal core rod from the direct action of high temperature metal and slag, maintaining the rigidity of the stopper rod to control the injection flow.

The High Alumina Sleeve Brick is the channel through which the converter steel flows to the ladle. It is in direct contact with the molten steel, and its life span directly affects the steelmaking rhythm of the converter. Structurally, taphole sleeve bricks are divided into integral sleeve bricks (also called taphole pipe bricks) and split sleeve bricks; integral sleeve bricks are generally formed by isostatic pressing, and split sleeve bricks are formed by machine pressing . In order to facilitate installation on the converter, taphole sleeve bricks are often assembled with steel pipes and flanges for use.
Whether it is an integral type or a split type sleeve brick, the taphole sleeve brick is generally circular in shape, and the inner hole is a circular structure with a through hole. The size of the inner hole is determined according to the tapping time, and the wall thickness is generally 50~100mm. The shape of the hole is divided into straight shape and trumpet shape. Experiments have shown that the taphole with a trumpet-shaped inner hole and a circular entrance shape has a higher tapping speed, which means that the interference between the molten steel and the taphole is weakened, the water flow is relatively stable, and the circular entrance of the taphole is shortened. It's tapping time.

High Alumina Sleeve Bricks are generally made of clay or third-grade high aluminum. The size should be determined to meet the following two requirements: first, the requirements for the length of use and tapping time. The usage time is controlled by the wall thickness, and the tapping time is controlled by the sleeve. Determined by the inner diameter of the brick;
Second, manufacturing costs, using as little material as possible to achieve optimal use effects. By trying sleeve bricks of different sizes and combining the process conditions of the steelmaking plant, the size of the sleeve bricks was determined. Characteristics of grade three high alumina bricks: high thermal stability, refractoriness above 1600°C, high softening temperature under load that can reach above 1350°C, good slag resistance, good thermal shock stability, acid and alkali resistance, and high temperature creep It has the characteristics of low efficiency and high high temperature strength, and is a high-aluminum refractory material.
