Description

 

Alumina magnesia castable is a castable refractory material with Al2O3 and MgO as the main components. It is one of the main varieties of alkaline refractory castables. It is composed of granular materials (aggregates) and powder materials in a certain proportion, and a certain amount of binders and admixtures are added. It is suitable for pouring construction and molding. During construction, add an appropriate amount of water or liquid binder and stir and mix to make a castable with good fluidity. After casting, it solidifies at room temperature and hardens after baking.

Application

 

1. Steel industry: Alumina magnesia castable Used for the lining of blast furnaces, converters, electric furnaces, continuous casting and other equipment, which can withstand the erosion of high temperatures, molten metal and slag.
2. Non-ferrous metal smelting: used in the lining of copper, nickel, lead, zinc and other non-ferrous metal smelting furnaces to improve the refractory performance and service life of the furnace.
3. Glass industry: As a refractory material for furnaces, it improves the service life of the furnace and the quality of the glass.
4. Ceramic industry: used in kiln furniture and furnace linings of ceramic firing kilns to improve the quality and output of ceramic products.

Product composition

 

The raw materials used in alumina magnesia castables are divided into two types: natural and synthetic. Those made of natural raw materials mostly use bauxite clinker as the aggregate, magnesia powder and bauxite clinker powder as the matrix, and water glass is mostly used as the binding agent. Typical physical and chemical indicators of this castable are: Al2O3 10% ~ 70%, MgO 8% ~ 15%, Fe2O3 < 3%, volume density 2.45 ~ 2.65g/cm3, compressive strength 25 ~ 30MPa, drying line shrinkage 0.25%~0.35%. The operating temperature is 1500~1700℃. During the use of castables, Al2O3 reacts with MgO at high temperatures (1200-1300°C) to form magnesia-aluminum spinel (MgO·Al2O3).

Refractory alumina magnesia castables made of synthetic raw materials have higher chemical purity and better performance. Most of these castables use industrial alumina or special-grade bauxite and light-burned magnesium oxide as raw materials, and are ground, pelletized, and calcined. Magnesia-aluminum spinel is synthesized in advance through other processes, and then used as raw material to make aggregate and powder, so it is also called spinel castable. In order to maintain its excellent high-temperature performance, this castable often uses pure calcium aluminate cement as a binder to make low-cement castables. The physical and chemical indicators of aluminum-magnesium casting materials made from synthetic raw materials are: MgO5%~7%, Al2O390%~95%, SiO2<0.5%. The density is 3.0~3.2g/cm3, the porosity is 14%~16%, and the compressive strength is 20~35MPa. The load softening temperature is 1600~1650℃, and the drying line shrinkage is 0.01%~0.05%.
